Wanting to Discover Myself

I'm sitting here, at 3 am writing this blog, at the time when I'm usually most emotional, trying to think of how I want to phrase this. When it gets to be late at night, I tend to go into deeper trains of thought, and I tend to get more emotional. I wonder if these emotions are my true side, and I cover them up with being in control all the time. If I could tap into those emotions, would I be a better person?

I'm not sure if there's an answer to that quesiton.

I've been thinking a lot lately about who I am, and what I want for my life, and what I'm even doing with my life.

I really want to find myself, and I think I know how to do so, I'm just not sure about how to go about doing it.

There are parts of who I am, who I know that my family and some friends would not, and could not, be understanding or supportive about. I want to keep those parts hidden from them, because I don't want to disappoint them. On the same token, I don't want to disappoint myself and not be able to show those sides because of fear.

Self discovery is never an easy thing, and shouldn't be taken lightly. The fact that I'm even willing to try self-discovery, in my opinion, is commendable, however, I think it's hard to find myself when I know that I won't be accepted by those closest to me.

I know that self-discovery is never meant to be easy, and in fact it's supposed to be pretty difficult, but I wish that it was easier.

The Next Foodnetwork Star 2011 Review *Spoilers*

Today was the premier of the newest season of the Next Food Network Star.

The contestants were introduced, as always, and I've got to say that I dislike about 2/3 of them. Last season, I really liked the contestants right from the getgo, and this time around I don't care for a lot of them. There are some really good ones though.

It looks like they brought Giada back into the show, but she's not doing the job she did last year, she's kinda just there to be there, it seems like.

The contestants were given their first challenge, which was to cook a fancy breakfast. They had 30 minutes to cook, and then they were to present it to the camera. Most of them did pretty badly, not only with their food, but with their presentation, though some of them were impressive.

Orchid was the winner of the first challenge. I really like her, from the start. She seems really kind and sweet, and she made food that all the judges really enjoyed. The judges thought that she was warm and charismatic, and they said that the camera loved her. They listed their thoughts on what they each could improve on, and they were all sent home.

Man! The Food Network Star houses these past two years have been really nice compared to previous seasons. They got yet another amazing looking house for the contestants to stay in. Wouldn't it be nice to be on this show, if ONLY to live in that house? :D

The next morning, they all went to the Farmer's Market where they met up with Alton Brown who announced their next competition. They were each broken up into teams. Each team would be part in creating a three part promotion video. They were allowed four continuous takes, and they could choose props.

The teams were as follows:

1) Whitney, Mary Beth, and Justin B.

2) Susie, Katie, and Chris

3) Howie, Vic, and Jyll

4) Orchid, Jeff, and Juba

5) Penny, Justin D, and Alisha

Whitney, Mary Beth, and Justin B were first to go. Mary Beth did pretty well in her segment of the promotion, Whitney was being bossy though the presentation, and I disliked her. Justin B seemed pretty forced, and they had to go through all four takes. On the very last take, Justin froze up, and messed up his segment slightly.

Susie, Katie, and Chris were up next. Katie went a little crazy with the props, and she was way too insane. They each seemed fake, and way over the top. I don't care for any of them. Chris has this "frat boy" air about him, and he's pretty annoying. I feel for him though, because Katie and Susie are insane-o.

Howie, Vic, and Jyll were up next. This team is near the bottom of my list of the people I don't like. Howie messed up the first two alloted takes, and the other two were not able to go. Finally, on the last take, they were each able to go, and Jyll totally bombed her presentation. She had plenty of time to memorize her lines, but she got tripped up and failed.

Next was Orchid, Jeff, and Juba. I really liked this team, with the exception of Juba. He trips up too much on camera, which is what this entire show is about. If you can't talk to the camera, you aren't a Food Network Star, plain and simple. Jeff and Orchid did amazingly on their takes, but Juba kept fumbling up his segment, finally, on the last take he did alright. He was mediocre compared to Orchid and Jeff.

Penny, Justin D, and Alisha were last to go. I hate this group. Penny is a bitch, flat out. There is nothing about her that I like. She is controlling, manipulative, and rude. During the decision process, she kept being rude and inconsiderate to Alisha, which just made her more tense than she already was. In the previous challenge, Alisha was told by the judges that they don't care for her accent, so she was thrown off. When she went into her camera presentation, she whispered, and was not projecting. Alton encouraged her, and she did better in her take. Justin fumbled up his part, and Penny kept making annoying commentary with each take. When it was finally her turn, she tried to act far too "sexy" though it was just raunchy rather than sexy. This is Food Network, lady, not Playboy.

After all of their presentations, Alton announced that this was only the first part of their challenge. They were going to remain in their groups, and they were going to work together to make a four course meal for the judges and members of the press. Each team member was to do their own dish, and there would be one collaborative dish. They each went out shopping for food. The shopping adventure was a mess, and if you watched the episode, you know what I mean.

Back in the kitchen, Penny was causing some major drama with Alisha. She is such a whore, and I hope she gets kicked out early. I really liked Orchid, though, and I hope she moves on through the rounds. In my opinion, the Food Network really needs an Asian star with a lot of personality, and I think Orchid has it.

Later in the show, they arrived at the kitchen where they were to prep for their presentation to the press.

Alisha, Penny, and Justin D had to present first. Penny was really awkward in her presentation, no suprises whatsoever. The judges liked Alisha’s food. They didn't care for Penny’s sexy idea, and one of the judges said “you’re not gonna have sex in the kitchen, you’re gonna cook.” They didn’t think Justin D has star power, however they thought his food was alright. I'm thinking this is an early premonition. Usually people with little star power ever develop it in enough time to not go home.

Mary Beth, Whiney, and Justin B presented second. Their whole presentation seemed a little forced and nervous. They really liked their food, but they didn't care for their presentations.

Howie, Vic, and Jyll were next to present. Their time in the kitchen was HORRIBLE! Howie is totally incompetent! He was running around the kitchen being controlling and manipulative, and he didn't help the group at all. Jyll, I think, is too passive, she was doing all of Howie’s work for him, and she wasn't paying enough attention to her dish. Vic and Jyll had a collision accident that knocked his food onto the ground, and for the second challenge in a row, he was unable to present his food. In the first challenge, he wasn't able to give all of his food, because he couldn't find his lobster. Their presentation was shakey, and Bob even said he thought it was a little sad. They disliked their group, I think, the most.

Orchid, Jeff, and Juba, the powerhouse team, were the next team to present. Jeff gave a great presentation, and Orchid's presentation was good. Juba was a little flat, which shouldn't come as a shock. Jeff was going to present their collaborative dish, but Juba stole the speech, and messed it up, badly, it was hard to watch. They liked Jeff a lot, but they thought his food was just OK. They loved Orchid, and they loved his food.

Susie, Katie, and Chris were last to go. Chris presented well, and I thought Susie and Katie were a little forced. Their presentation was not very well enjoyed. The three of them seemed really disjointed, but they are all way too into themselves. They liked Susie, though I don’t know why.

Back at home, Jyll tried to express her concerns to Howie about what happened in the kitchen. She sat down with him, away from everyone else, and talked calmly to him. He immediately got on the defensive, and it seemed like he was trying to tell her how dumb she is, and that she’s making up crap I dislike Howie, Jyll just was trying to express her concerns and clear the air with him, and he wasn’t gonna have it. I want to feel bad for Jyll, but she needs to be able to stick up for herself.

Time for the first evaluation.

They started with Jeff, Orchid, and Juba. They liked them, and they liked their food. It was announced that their team won the round, and in my opinion, Juba won purely off of the efforts of the others.

The last ones standing were Howie, Jyll, Vic, Penny, Justin D, and Alisha.

They said that Penny was trashy rather than sexy, which I agree with. They judged Vic pretty harshly because he didn’t get food to them, which was totally understandable. Justin and Alisha were safe to move on, which I was OK with. Penny, though, was also safe. WHY!!!!?!?!?!??? I hate her! She's such a whore!

I feel like Vic is going to go, because this is a show about food, and he hasn’t given them food in both challenges.

The three of then were asked to leave while the judges deliberated. When they were called back, there was tension as usual for who would go home.

Jyll was announced to be safe. Good.

Vic and Howie were last to stand.

Howie…

Is not safe.

YES!

He’s goin home!

Good riddance

I really hate Howie! He's such a dick, and I'm so glad he's gone! I hope that Penny is next to go!

Thanks for reading.

Spy Kids 4 All The Time In The World

I was going to vlog about this, but then I thought that I would just blog about it instead.

Remember the popular series Spy Kids? Remember how the first one was really good, the second one was alright, the third was just a flop, but it was good for the sake of finishing up the series? What if I told you there is a 4th one coming out soon?

Yes, you heard me right, Spy Kids 4 is coming to theaters soon.

This movie is to star an all new cast of characters, however Carmen and Junie are going to make their cameo appearances for sure. This movie is to star two kids who look like they can't act their way out of a paper bag, some random guy who's supposed to be their dad, and the beautiful Jessica Alba.

To me, it seems like they are just trying to milk the franchise. The trailer looked really bad, the kids look like they can hardly act, and to make matters worse, there is a talking dog. Enough with the freaking talking animal movies already, and this one doesn't even serve much of a point, it's just a random add in to the series.

I'm not sure what Carmen and Junie's role will be in the movie, but it looks like they are just going to show up, randomly, then disappear for the rest of the movie.

I thought the series should have ended back with 2, and I thought that 3 was pushing it, now this 4th one is just way too much over the edge.

I don't think I'll waste the money in the theaters, because I'm not expecting a lot from it.

In any case, it should be interesting to see the new generation of kids who are going to watch this movie, without any prior knowledge of the past three, which are going to be better by far.

The only redeeming quality of this movie is that Alba is going to star in it. That's about it ^_^

New Hair Fashion

What won't they think of next? I was just reading an article on Yahoo news, about a new fashion trend that has begun hitting the market. Apparently, it's fashionable to now stick feathers in your hair. I'm not sure what the attraction is, but I'm guessing it has to do with media idols doing it. You can find the article here:

http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/beauty/high-fashion-or-bait-fly-ties-now-hair-extensions-2492725/

So what does this mean for people? Well, not much except for the fact that certain women's hair is about to get a little more tacky. This reminds me back in the old days of the 1800 where women would literally put any and everything into their hair to be able to stand out. I remember reading back in grade school that they would leave their hair for so long in these messes of whatever they put in it, that spiders and all kinds of critters started to live in their hair.

At what price are we going to settle for fashion? This is all my opinon, and maybe you think that feathers are fashionable, but read the article, and you'll know that it's not easy to get these kinds of feathers.

Plus, now fishermen are going to get a slap on the face while their bait is going to be stuffed into some lady's hair. Maybe it's just me, but I think that putting feathers from fishing bait is a little over the top.

Anyways, that's just me. If you have any comments, I'd love to hear them.
